When you're watching a cop drama, you can tell that a character has become important to the plot when a detective pulls them aside and starts asking questions. In the world of cop shows, this character has become a "person of interest."

Most people don't enjoy getting pulled into a police interrogation room. But we all want others to take an interest in us. And in order for connection to form, we need to show someone else that we see them as a "person of interest."
